In the United States, the criminal intelligence investigator is, in many ways, unfettered by the restrictions of prosecutorial criminal investigations as long as the intelligence investigations has a criminal predicate, privacy laws are not violated, and the information is collected lawfully and in compliance with Part 23, Section 28, Code of Federal Regulations.
